About Me

My name is Rebecca Fitzsimmons. I love technology, teaching, social media, art, and research. These interests have led me on a fantastic path through art school at Syracuse University, an MFA in photography at the University of Illinois, and an MLIS at the University of South Florida. During my career I have worked in museums and libraries, focusing on educational outreach, collection management, and digital projects. I currently work with the Special Collections department at the George A. Smathers Libraries.

My education and career so far have revolved around critical thinking, creativity, design, research, writing, and teaching; each career step has been a logical extension of my experience and has challenged me in different ways. I have had the pleasure of instructing college students, teachers, and docents in finding information resources to support their study of art. This experience inspired me to find my way into information studies and provided a solid foundation for my forays into information literacy instruction.
